INDIAN FAIRS AND FESTIVALS IN APRIL
Chitra Vichitra Fair (Gunbhakhari, Gujarat): Endless dancing and drumming till everyone is exhausted at this 'adivasis' (tribals) fair attended by large numbers of Garasia and Bhil tribals.
Gangaur Festival (Jaipur, Rajasthan): 18days of festivities all across Rajasthan, dedicated to Gauri (consort of Lord Shiva). Colourful processions with the town band, horses and elaborate palanquins make it a fascinating experience in Jaipur.
Mewar Festival( Udaipur, Rajasthan): A welcome to spring with food, song and dance. Colourfully attired women take images of Goddess Gauri to lake Pichola and a procession of boats ends the celebrations.
Baisakhi: Baisakhi is both the Hindu New Year and the harvest festival of north India. In Kerala it is known as Vishu, in Assam as Rangali Bihu and in Punjab there is robust revelry during the celebrations.
