Assam occupies the lush valley of the Brahmaputra, one of the greatest rivers in the world. Assam tea is known the world over for being a strong, flavorful brew. The capital, Guwahati, has the atmospheric Kamakhya Temple, one of the biggest tantric centres in the country. Culturally rich Assam has a significant tribal presence. Kaziranga National Park is a world Heritage site and the only habitat of the India great one-horned rhino in the country. The peak enjoys an interesting topographic hills to the other and plains of tall elephant grass in between. Another World Heritage Site, Manas National park lies in the Himalayan foothills on the Assam-Bhutan border. The rare golden langur can be seen here.
