As the international flights land around mid night, you spent night in sleeping, relaxing and rejuvenating. Have leisurely breakfast in the hotel. The second day of Taj Mahal with Khajuraho Tour (or Golden Triangle with Khajuraho Tour) is scheduled for sightseeing of Old & New Delhi. The Delhi tour guide and chauffeur will meet you at the lobby of your hotel and take you on Delhi sightseeing tour. Delhi can be divided into two major parts for better understanding - Old Delhi & New Delhi.

The Old Delhi is predominantly laden with medieval era structures, culture and townships whereas the New Delhi was either laid down by the British or evolved on modern city parameters. The Old Delhi tour is special as it introduces you with the bygone era of medieval India. The Old Delhi tour is highlighted by the visit of Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid and Raj Ghat. The exotic India experience will be manual rickshaw ride through the alleys of Kinari Bazaar of Chandni Chowk. After visiting Old Delhi, move for sightseeing of New Delhi along with Delhi tour guide. During New Delhi sightseeing, pass by India Gate, Rajpath, President House and Parliament. Since prehistoric days, Delhi has been the centre of power. During Mahabharata period, it was known as Indraprastha. Delhi, thus, offers to the visitor monuments of Hindu, Islamic and British origin, dating from 12th to 20th centuries.

The two chief monuments of British era Parliament (formerly the Secretariat) and the Presidential Palace (formerly the Viceroy's House) hold tremendous importance for tourists as well as Republic of India. For tourists, these are probably most exquisite monuments of British regime but for an Indian, these two monuments of Delhi can be termed as nerve-centre. There is a wide avenue known as Rajpath that runs from India Gate to the Presidential Palace, where New Delhi is at its most splendid.

Qutub Minar is probably the tallest brick/stone made tower in the world. Its construction started in 1199 by Qutubuddin Aibak. Qutub Minar was constructed by the stones collected from various Hindu and Jain temples demolished by the Muslim rulers. The Qutub Minar complex, situated on Vishnupad hill, houses more than thousands of years old rust-free Iron Pillar. At the foot of the tower stands India's first mosque, erected over the foundations of a Hindu temple.

There are several other monuments to see in Delhi. Humayun' Tomb (erected in his memory by his widow) and the Old Fort (Purana Qila) are prominent among them, belonging to ancient and medieval era. Purana Qila is a massive fort (occupying the site of prehistoric Delhi) that contains both a mosque and a library. Post independence structures of Lotus Temple (belonging to Bahai faith) and Akshardham Temple (belonging to Swaminarayan sect of Hindu religion) are highly visited cultural centres with exquisite architectural specimens.

After visiting Old & New Delhi, return to Delhi hotel for overnight stay.

delhi-agra-inida

Visit to Abhaneri is a special offering on Taj Mahal with Khajuraho Tour.

After visiting Abhaneri village, drive for Agra. En route Agra, about 35 kms before Agra, one happens to see deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, now a derelict village. Fatehpur Sikri, built by Akbar, was the first attempt by the Mughal to build a planned township. Akbar, as some historians point out, wanted to shift Mughal capital from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri but, due to paucity of potable water for a large chunk of population, he couldn't implement his plan to get shifted. Fatehpur Sikri is home to large palatial buildings like Jama Masjid, shrine of Salim Chishti, Buland Darwaja, Jodhabai Mahal, Panch Mahal etc.

Fatehpur Sikri is a must see tourist destination of Golden Triangle circuit. After visiting Fatehpur Sikri, proceed for Agra. There had been a settlement in Agra long before Babur made it his capital. It was Akbar who built the Agra Fort (which is still known as Akbarabad)

Khajuraho temples can easily be termed as 'epic in stone'. Khajuraho, due to invaluable assets of erotically carved temples, is accorded status of UNESCO World Heritage site. Out of eighty four temples, twenty shrines are still intact. These temples were built during 10th & 11th centuries when the Chandela rulers were holding the sway of the region and their influence was at its peak. The temples of Khajuraho have been divided into three clusters- Western Group of Khajuraho temples, Eastern Group of Khajuraho temples and Southern Group of Khajuraho temples. All these temples are built as per Nagara style of temple architecture, prevalent in North India. Out of these three clusters, Western Group of Khajuraho temples are most pronounced and visited ones. The basic theme of the sculptures on temples' walls is women and their sexually erotic postures: pouting, amorous, voluptuous, sinuous in curves, seductive, warm, inviting, intimate. In all these forms, the women are full of vitality, yet mute and beatific.
